In the first place, the Taínos Indians, who before the arrival of the conquistadors already had a culinary culture such as seafood, one of them being lambi, vegetables such as cassava, and barbecue cooking methods.
Secondly, Spain, with the arrival of the Spanish, new plants, animals and cooking methods were introduced to Creole cuisine, such as dried salted fish (cod and herring) and non-native fruits and plants.
Third, Africa, in 1507 African slaves were introduced to the island, and with them new flavors to culinary traditions, with them came the knowledge of how to use bananas, as well as some of the most appreciated broths and fried foods.
